For Immediate Press Release: June 1, 2020
Holyoke, MA – The Bay State Bobcats have had a busy month of May, as the Club has signed over half its team for the upcoming season, already. There’s a great new group of players, as well as a good core of returners set to come back to compete for a National Championship during the 2020-2021 season.
“It’s an exciting time of the year,” Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting Trevor Simonson was quoted saying. “Recruiting new players, with bringing back an awesome core is exciting to say the least. Anthony and I have been working non-stop to bring a National Championship to Western Massachusetts for this upcoming season. One thing is for sure, though, we will be bringing a Winning Formula to Holyoke.”
“Anyone interested in learning more about the Bobcats, is strongly encouraged to reach out to us,” Head Coach/General Manager Anthony Langevin said. “We do have some openings for the team. Our biggest attraction I would say is our commitment and connections to move players onto the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and College Hockey. In addition, we have a beautiful 55-passenger team bus we take to all away games. With many programs, players have to drive to games (and in some cases, most games). Not with us. We have our beautiful team bus we take everywhere we go and we will be flying our players to Blaine, Minnesota for the League Showcase in December. We do things the right way as an organization and players know that.”
“We practice everyday, twice a day,” Langevin continued. “When I played NCAA Division 3 Hockey at Daniel Webster College, we ran the same type of practices and had the same exact times as the Bobcats will have this upcoming season. In addition, the team will have Championship-run workouts with the team’s strength and conditioning coach. I would say if we offer everything a NCAA Division 3 Hockey team offers and more, we are doing right by our players.”
When Langevin played at Daniel Webster, Simonson was also the Assistant/Offensive Coach for the NCAA Division 3 team. “I ran tough, hard noised practices at Daniel Webster,” Simonson added. “Guys were ready for upcoming games by the end of the week and we were conditioned to compete for 60 minutes or even more. Bobcat players will be more than ready, as well.”
“In addition to our College-run practices, we have many of our players skate with North American Hockey League (NAHL) teams throughout the year. The North American Hockey League is a free to play league. For players (many players) to get this opportunity throughout the season to be potentially tendered, drafted, or even play a few games with one of them is incredible. One of many reasons why the North American 3 Hockey League is truly a step above the rest!”
The Club will start announcing its signed players starting on June 15th. The Club will announce 2 players signed, per week, leading up to the season. The Bobcats Front Office will be announcing each signed player on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
