The Bay State Bobcats have had some close games, but it hasn’t been enough as they have moved to 2-7-0 on the early season.
Norwich 1 @ Bay State 0 – Andrew Yocum stopped all 29 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season as the Sea Captains shutout the Bobcats on Wednesday, 1-0. The game’s lone goal didn’t come until midway through the 3rd period as Jacob Begich scored his first goal of the season with an assist to Nicolas Piluso. Jacob King played well in the loss for Bay State, stopping 34 of 35 shots.
New Jersey 5 @ Bay State 6 (OT): Landon Schoonover scored his second goal of the game 2:21 into the extra period to lift his Bobcats past New Jersey in their first of two matchups this weekend. Schoonover, William Jasmin, and Leonard Litwin all buried goals in the opening period for Bay State. A pair of goals from New Jersey’s Kurt Johnson brought the score to 3-2 through the first 20 minutes. Nate Mastrony and Johnson traded goals to keep Bay State’s lead at one through two periods of play. In the 3rd, Jasmin buried his second to extend the lead early but Dante DeBlueris and George Hinds each lit the lamp to bring the game to overtime. AJ Cooper made 37 saves in the overtime victory while Jake Agoglia and William Kelly split time in net for New Jersey to combine for 29 saves.
New Jersey 6 @ Bay State 4 – The Titans got two goals apiece from both Nick Trabb and Kurt Johnson in a 6-4 win on Sunday. The Bobcats had leads of 2-0 and 3-1, but could not hold on. William Jasmin scored twice for the Bobcats and Nate Mastrony and Brian Woak also scored. The Titans got two goals in the 2nd period from Ryan Talorico and Trabb, and then would score the final four goals of the game, all in the 3rd period, which included two from Johnson, another from Trabb and one from Antonio Vidal. Avery Rovira made 23 saves in the win, while Aiden McGraw made 37 saves in the loss.
Bay State 1 @ Norwich 6 – The Norwich Sea Captains defeated the Bay State Bobcats by a score of 6-1. The Sea Captains were led by Shane Mazur as he had 3 points in the contest registering 1 goal and 2 assists. Brendan Pellerito stopped 16 of 17 shots to get the win for Norwich and Nick Pettman turned away 28 of 34 shots in the loss for Bay State.
A big week ahead as the Navy and Gold travel to Attleboro, MA on Wednesday and Sunday to face off against the Northeast Generals, and on Friday they make the trek to Norwich, CT to tangle the Norwich Sea Captains. All games will be broadcasted on HockeyTV.
