Injuries pile up; Titans take 2 from ‘Cats

The Bay State Bobcats traveled to New Jersey to take on the Titans, this past weekend. As injuries piled up for the Navy and Gold, the Titans won both games by respective 5-1 scores.

 

Bay State 1 @ New Jersey 5 – Samuel Senft’s two goals and Donavon Alfama’s 34 saves led the way as the Titans filled the net in a 5-1 win over the Bobcats on Saturday. Jacob Renbarger, Roland Ponechal and Joey Mataviesko also found twine for New Jersey, while Michael Fritz put Bay State on the board. Braeden Bovey of Bay State finished with 29 saves in the loss.

Bay State 1 @ New Jersey 5 – The Titans moved their record to a perfect 3-0 as they picked up their second consecutive 5-1 win and weekend sweep of the Bobcats. Roland Ponechal had two goals and Colin Freitas made 34 saves in the win. The Titans went ahead 2-0 in the 1st period on goals from Ponechal and Jake Spangler. The Bobcats cut the lead down to 2-1 with their lone goal from Landon Boothe. Later in the period, the Titans made it 3-1 on a goal from Joey Mataviesko. In the 2nd period, another goal from Ponechal and one from Isaiah McKinney secured the 5-1 win. Bobcats goalie Cameron Schnopp made 31 saves in the loss.

 

Bay State falls to 1-3-0-1 as the Titans improve to 3-0-0 on the young season. The ‘Cats will look to rebound as they continue their road trip to Norwich, CT on Saturday night and Danbury, CT on Sunday night.
